As a Nutritionist, Functional Medicine practitioner and health coach, my focus is on gut health, weight issues, fatigue, stress-related concerns and improving overall health. My goal is for my clients to feel their best and attain optimal health.
I came to nutrition and functional medicine after an extensive career in finance which includes an MBA, many years in investment banking and running my own company in the hedge fund industry in London. I had a very exciting, dynamic career and thoroughly enjoyed my time in the world of banking. However, my interests changed over time. In 2012, I began studying nutrition and functional medicine in order to pursue a career in the field of nutrition and health. I am a Master Nutrition Therapist, having studied at The Nutrition Therapy Institute in Denver. I am certified in Functional Medicine. I also have extensive experience as a health coach.
Why have I decided to focus on nutrition and health? After so many years in banking, I felt it was time to make a change. It can be a very demanding career. I found that it was draining me and that I was feeling burnt out. I decided that was not how I wanted to spend my time any longer and that I needed to move on. During this time, my casual interest in nutrition grew into the passion that it is today. I began experimenting with how I was eating and noticing that I could positively affect change in how I felt through nutrition. Throughout part of my life, I had a terrible diet. I lived on coffee, white wine and cigarettes. So believe me when I say that I can understand where someone is coming from and the challenges of transitioning to a healthier way of eating. I learned how to eat well and listen to my body, and not simply override its signals with mental determination and grit. Now I take care of my body and give it what it needs. At least most of the time!
In addition to seeing my own clients, I write a weekly blog for a functional medicine clinic in Denver. This is a great role that involves extensive research reading scientific journals and keeps my knowledge very fresh. You can see my blog articles here.
I spend a lot of time practicing, researching and studying nutrition and functional medicine, but I do have other interests! I love to ski. It’s my absolute favourite thing to do. I also love hiking and have recently been getting into mountain biking. I love anything to do with being in the mountains. So much so that I moved to St. Anton in Austria not long ago. I can now get into the mountains in 5 minutes, as well as see them right outside my window. I am absolutely loving this change in location and circumstances.
With my own health, I practice what I preach and am feeling better than I have in years.
